
Oula Ramadan

Oula Ramadan is the founder and director of Badael, a strategist and human rights advocate with over two decades of experience in peacebuilding, justice, and transformative organizing across Syria and the broader MENA region. She brings a proven track record in organizational leadership, program development, and cross-regional collaboration. Oula’s work is rooted in a deep commitment to transformative justice and nonviolent change, with a particular focus on advancing intersectional approaches to political transformation. Before founding Badael, she worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Syria, addressing gender-based violence in refugee communities from the MENA region. Oula has co-authored several research publications on feminist organizing and activism, is a passionate practitioner of oral history, and has played a central role in co-creating multiple archives that document the lived experiences and resistance of marginalized communities. She holds a Master of Science in Politics of Conflict, Rights, and Justice from SOAS, University of London, and has served on the boards of several rights-based organization
