
Marianna Al Tabbaa

Marianna Altabbaa is a researcher and advocate with a decade of experience in Syrian civil society. Her work began in Damascus in 2010 with the Syrian Environment Association, after the 2011 uprising, she engaged in non-violent activism before relocating to Lebanon in 2013, where she worked as a field researcher with the UN and international NGOs, focusing on social stability, informal justice, and refugee rights. She later pursued a scholarship at NYU’s politics program, specializing in authoritarian policymaking and ethnic conflict, and interned with Human Rights Watch and the Working Group for Women, Peace, and Security. As a consultant, she has contributed to research for organizations such as the Syrian Women’s Political Movement, Harmon Research Center, and Etijahat for Arts and currently is a non-resident fellow with the Arab Reform Initiative, her research supports Syrian detainee and missing persons groups, focusing on coalition-building and advocacy strategies.
